Proposed features:
Paved Greenway = 3/5 mile
This project is a partnership with the NCDOT Congestion, Mitigation and Air Quality Program
Overview
Barton Creek Greenway will provide a direct link between J.W. Clay Blvd. and Mallard Creek Greenway allowing residential areas between these destinations access to 9 miles of existing greenway trail. An overland connector sidewalk along J.W. Clay Blvd. will connect Barton Creek Greenway to the North Tryon Street CATS Station.
This greenway will serve as a by-pass during the NCDOT bridge replacement project at North Tryon Street which will temporarily close a portion of Mallard Creek Greenway. The NCDOT project is expected to begin in 2014 along with CATS Lynx Blue Line Extension.
Barton Creek Greenway will provide access to the existing Mallard Creek and Clarkâs Creek Greenways as well as UNCC, University Place, CMC University and other office/retail centers in the University City region. This project will provide a main greenway trail that is a permanent part of the Mecklenburg County Greenway Program.
