 Updated 6/1/20

For the health and safety of our staff and visitors, Mecklenburg County is limiting access to many county facilities due to the current COVID-19 health concern. The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will re-open on Monday, June 15th, 2020 with modified hours and capacity.

New Hours (Effective June 15th 2020):

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's, from 5:30am-1:30pm

Tuesday and Thursday's from 11:30am-7:30pm.

**The pools will close 30 minutes prior to the facility closing**

Under the Governor's orders, the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center is reducing its user capacity to safely operate the facility. Swim lanes may accommodate one (1) person per lane. The spa will have a maximum capacity of two people at any time. The warm pool will operate a dedicated lane for programming with the remainder of the pool accommodating 18 participants.

To provide equity to all lap swimmers, swimming will be limited to one-hour time blocks at the beginning of every hour. Several lanes will be available to reserve online up to seven (7) days in advance with the remaining lanes operating on a first-come, first-served basis. The facility will provide each swimmer a wristband upon entry defining the hour and lane provided.

The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center has designated 12pm-1pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's, and 11:30am-1pm on Tuesday and Thursday's for anyone aged 55+ to access the warm pool.

Other Considerations:

  • To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation asks that all swimmers wear their bathing suits to the facility as the locker rooms will be closed to change and shower and locker usage will not be available. Deck showers will be provided to rinse before entering and exiting the pools.
  • The weight room and classrooms are closed until further notice.
  • Towel service has been suspended.
  • Complementary use of pool floats (pull-buoys, kickboards, jogging belts, etc.) and shared exercise equipment have been temporarily removed from service, however lifejackets are available as needed.
  • Locker usage will not be available.
  • Memberships have been temporarily reduced by 50% per month for adult, family, military, senior and youth, and daily fees have been reduced to $5 per day.
  • Online, pre-reserved lanes will cost the $5 daily admission and will be expected to be paid at the time of reserving online. The pre-reservation for members is complementary as part of your membership access. Continuous failure to show up for an online pre-booked reservation could revoke your ability to reserve a lane online in the future as we would like to ensure the service is fair to everyone.

If a swimmer has exhibited any of the following signs or symptoms, we ask that they not visit the facility:

  • Fever - Temperature greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius)
  • Coughing or Sore Throat
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills or repeated shaking
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
