Recycling in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools

Recycle the Runway 2018 Recap

Northwest School of the Arts won first place for Best in Show for their knee-length “Flower Warrior” dress, an outfit fit for a warrior princess. Providence High School won first place in the Most Creative Use of Recyclable Materials category for their full-length ball gown created with fabric bearing colorful images of Marilyn Monroe. West Charlotte High School won first place in the Greatest Variety of Different Recyclable Materials for a ball gown, reminiscent of the 1800s, created from a mix of recyclable materials. West Charlotte High School’s “Sweet Lolita,” a dress featuring a myriad of pink bottle caps, won Crowd Favorite.

Over $22,000 was awarded to this year’s participants in total.
