Curious about where all of the recyclables that are picked up at the curb and at schools go? The Metrolina Recycling Center is the county's processing facility for a wide range of materials collected in residential, schools and commercial recycling programs in Mecklenburg and neighboring counties. Recyclables brought to the facility are sorted and prepared for market.  

Free tours of the center are available. Tours are tailored to any age group. The facility has an Environmental Education Center. The state-of-the-art Education Center is furnished with the latest audio-visual equipment, including a remote control camera that allows visitors to see all of the operational activities of the facility.

The center also has a viewing platform where the public can safely view the trucks dumping the recyclables, as well as the sorting and processing of the materials, and finally, the baled materials being loaded onto tractor trailers.

From I-85...Take the Graham St. exit going south (towards Charlotte). Travel about 1/4 mile and turn left onto Amble Drive. Follow Amble Drive until it dead ends. Take the last driveway on the right. The facility is located at 1007 Amble Drive, Charlotte, NC 28206. Phone: 704-598-8595.
