If you live outside of Mecklenburg County, you may purchase a $50 Annual Sticker to display on your vehicle to receive the same services as a Mecklenburg County resident at our Full Service Recycling and Disposal Sites If you choose not to purchase the sticker, you must pay for each entry to dispose of waste. That fee starts at $8.50 per visit, and increases with volume. Stickers may be purchased at the Fee Booth at the site. Full Service Centers limits patrons coming from outside of Meck County to garbage disposal of 5 bags per visit, with vehicles limited to one visit per day of operations.
Why are we doing this?
The residential disposal sites has seen increasing amounts of materials from residents outside of Mecklenburg County. Several facility users are coming to the site multiple times each day, and appear to be running a disposal service, and using Meck County's facility for little cost. While we wish to remain a good neighbor, residents from outside of Mecklenburg County do not pay any fee to Mecklenburg County for disposal service. Therefore, to limit our costs and encourage residents to recycle, kitchen type trash will be limited to 5 bags per visit, please note, you still have to either purchase the entry sticker or pay for each use. Commercial companies with Construction and Demolition Waste must cross the scales and pay for that material as they normally would.
Recycling will be unlimited and is strongly encouraged. Separating recyclables from household trash will substantially reduce the volume of trash you have for disposal and will allow you to comply with the bag limits. Residential waste is not disposed of in the Foxhole Landfill. Mecklenburg County pays to have this material trucked to the Speedway Landfill in Concord, NC.
If residents from Lancaster have more materials for disposal they may contact the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Program at 803-283-2101. if you do have more materials. Lancaster does operate waste disposal facilities. To see a full list of locations, please visit
www.mylancastersc.org. If you are from another County, please contact them for your local disposal and recycling needs.
Additionally, residential curbside collection service is available by several private companies who can be found via the Internet or Yellow Pages.
