NON-Mecklenburg County Residential Access to Full Service Centers

Out-of-County Sticker & Fee InformationOut of County Sticker Photo.PNG

If you live outside of Mecklenburg County, you may purchase an Annual Sticker to display on your vehicle to receive the same services as a Mecklenburg County resident at our Full Service Recycling and Disposal Sites. Click Here for Residential Out of County Sticker Fees.  Out of County Stickers are for residential use only, and may be purchased at the Fee Booth at the site. The Out of County Sticker gives residents from outside of Mecklenburg County the same disposal privileges as a Mecklenburg County resident.  This does not mean all disposal is free.  For a listing of residential fees, click here.

If you choose NOT to purchase the sticker, you must pay for each entry to dispose of any item (including recycling).  For a list of Out of County Fees, click here.

Why are we doing this?

Mecklenburg County's Full Service Centers are primarily for the use of Mecklenburg County residents.  Mecklenburg County residents all pay an annual assessment on their property tax bill that helps support the infrastructure needed for recycling and waste processing.  However, the proximity of our sites are near other counties and we wish to have a solution for those residents wo may desire to use our sites.  That solution is to either purchase the Out of County Sticker, or pay for every trip into our sites.

The residential disposal sites have seen increasing amounts of materials from residents outside of Mecklenburg County.  Several facility users are coming to the site multiple times each day, and appear to be running a disposal service, and using Mecklenburg County's facility for little cost. While we wish to remain a good neighbor, residents from outside of Mecklenburg County do not pay any fees to Mecklenburg County for disposal service. Therefore, to limit our costs and encourage residents to recycle, kitchen type trash will be limited to 5 bags per visit. Residential waste is not disposed of in the Foxhole Landfill. Mecklenburg County pays to have all Municipal Solid Waste sent to the Republic Speedway Landfill in Concord, NC.

Please note, you still have to either purchase the entry sticker or pay for each use. Commercial companies with Construction and Demolition Waste must cross the scales and pay for that material as they normally would.

Separating recyclables at the Full Service Center is mandatory.

For questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at: Solid Waste.
