​Self Service Recycling Centers - General information


 Self Service Recycling Centers are only for the collection of:

  • Paper (junk mail, magazines and phonebooks)
  • Cardboard
  • Aluminum Cans/Metal Cans & Milk and Juice Cartons
  • Plastic Jugs and Plastic and glass bottles 


- Reedy Creek Park: 2900 Rocky River Road
-Uptown Recycling: 11th Street (Between Tryon and College)
-Park Road Park: 5300 Closeburn Road
-McAlpine Creek Park: 8711 Monroe Road
-William R. Davie Park: 4635 Pineville-Matthews Road 

Hours of Operation

Monday-Sunday 7am-Dusk

Recycling Center Acceptable Materials

    • Pizza boxes
    • Plastic Bottles and Jugs
    • Empty Aerosol Cans
    • Milk and Juice Cartons, Juice Boxes
    • Aluminum/steel/tin cans
    • Spiral paper cans (i.e. frozen juice cans, glass jars/bottles (all colors) 
    • Junk mail and Mixed Paper (office paper, junk mail, envelopes, cereal boxes without liners, paper bags, gift boxes, gift wrap, dry food boxes, beer and pop cartons, mail tubes, paper towel rolls, index cards, file folders, paper egg cartons and paper food boxes).
    • Newspapers and inserts
    • Magazines and catalogs
    • Telephone Books
    • Flattened corrugated cardboard


Materials Preparation

Place acceptable materials into the containers. If the materials are in a plastic bag, remove them from the bag,  place them in the container, and take the bag back with you. 


Please do not leave trash or unacceptable materials at the self-service recycling centers. The recycling centers may be closed if they become trashed or if the recyclables are contaminated.
