The purpose of our Mecklenburg County Solid Waste programs is to secure disposal locations for all waste materials. Mecklenburg County does not collect your household waste or recyclables. That service is provided by the municipality in which you live. If you live in an unincorporated area of Mecklenburg County, or you are a business in Mecklenburg County, contact a
licensed waste hauler for pickup service.
If you are a resident or business and desire to self-haul your waste or recyclables to a disposal location, Mecklenburg County operates FOUR
Full Service Drop-Off Centers for your convenience.
Mecklenburg County operates a large
Material Recycling Facility (MRF) that separates the recyclables into their various commodity types, such as cardboard, ferrous metal, and aluminum. It is very important for you to know what materials can and cannot be recycled in your curbside can. Materials that are "wishful" recycling cause damage to our system and eventually will raise your costs. So please RECYCLE RIGHT.
