Abandoned Plans Policy

Abandoned Project Definition: Projects will be considered abandoned if, after receiving automated notice from the County that a plan review cycle is complete, or a project is ready for permit issuance, no activity (drawings resubmitted, or permit taken out) is taken on the owner's part for 120 calendar days. Once the project is determined to be abandoned, projects will be cancelled and fees retained.

On the 20th calendar day:

  • An automated email will be sent to the contact person notifying them that their plans have been in our office without activity for 20 days. Pursuant to our Abandon Plans Policy, projects that have had no activity for 120 calendar days will be considered abandoned. Once the project is determined to be abandoned, the project will be cancelled and the associated fees retained.

On the 110th calendar day:

  • An automated email will be sent to the contact person notifying them that their plans have been in our office without activity for 110 days. Pursuant to our Abandon Plans Policy, projects that have had no activity for 120 calendar days will be considered abandoned. Once the project is determined to be abandoned, the project will be cancelled and the associated fees retained.

On the 120th calendar day:

  • The project will be canceled.
  • The Coordinator will determine the cost for services rendered.
  • If an upfront fee has been paid, the cost for services will be deducted by the amount of the prepaid fee.
  • If a refund is due, the individual who paid the fee may apply for a refund by completing a credit/refund form and submitting it to the coordinator.
  • Please allow 30 days for a refund.
  • If a letter of authorization has been submitted with the project, the cost for services will be charged to the account listed on the letter.

Once the project has been considered abandoned, the plan review process must start over with an OnSchedule Application and a new plan review.

For additional information, please contact an OnSchedule Coordinator at 980-314-CODE (2633).
