North Carolina Building Code is highly detailed, and every job site is different. When real-world specifics collide with code books, there can be a difference of opinion on how to interpret and apply code. This can create frustration for our customers.
Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement staff are committed to minimizing the disruption when a code interpretation issue occurs. Furthermore, once a code interpretation issue has been resolved, we want to document this for consistent application of the code interpretation. To this end, we regularly hold consistency meetings for each trade. Read
