In order for children to enter school in North Carolina, they must have their immunization records up-to-date. Find out what

Increased weekday (Monday- Friday) immunization appointments are available at three (3) locations:
- Southeast Health Department, 249 Billingsley Rd., Charlotte
- Northwest Health Department, 2845 Beatties Ford Rd., Charlotte
- Valerie C. Woodard
Community Resource Center, 3205 Freedom Dr., Charlotte
For back to school immunizations, please remember:
Clinics are open to all school-aged children, no appointment is necessary.
To bring your insurance card - Medicaid, NC Health Choice or other private insurance
Certain Cigna and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans will be billed for shots.
Contact your insurance provider in advance to make sure immunizations provided by public health will be covered by your insurance plan.
Payment may be required with some insurance plans.
To bring your official shot record and at least one form of ID.
What We Do
The School Health Program supports Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system through needs assessment, case management, health education and professional consultation in order to:
- Remove health related barriers to learning,
- Maximize students' potential for learning and participation in school,
- Foster lifelong health skills, and
- Improve the quality of life.
