The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) is a national telephone survey of people 18 years or older created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The survey asks questions about health behaviors like smoking, exercise and health conditions like diabetes and cancer.
In 2016 Mecklenburg County Public Health conducted a random county-wide telephone survey using questions from the BRFSS. Over 1000 residents completed the survey which was offered in English and Spanish.
