Substance Use Disorder Task Force​

Mission Statement

Working together to be a national leader in addressing substance use disorders as a public health issue by providing an integrated continuum of care to create a healthy community.

 

2018 Mecklenburg County Opioid Summit

            Summit Highlights Include:

          • Presentations by state and county officials about strategies around opioid misuse, prevention, addiction, and overdose death

          • Work with community partners to rally behind solutions focused on prevention, healthcare, addiction treatment, harm reduction, criminal justice, and community strategies

          • Speakers who have been personally impacted by opioid addiction themselves or within their families

          • A viewing of the documentary produced by the FBI and DEA, Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict, a compilation of heart-wrenching first-person accounts by addicts and family members of addicts about their experiences

          • Evidence-based and innovative practices that help deliver health, healing and hope to individuals and families

2017 Opioid Summit - Mecklenburg County Collaborative Call to Action

A one day community featured speakers from Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center, Mecklenburg County Criminal Justice Services, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and many more to raise awareness of how substance use disorders are impacting our area. 

Attendees came together to brainstorm ideas on how to:

  • prevent overdose
  • increase education
  • advocate with elected officials
  • take action NOW to curb the opioid epidemic in Mecklenburg County
