  • Pregnancy testing

Birth Control Methods Offered

The Mecklenburg County Health Department offers the following contraceptive methods:
  • Birth control pills
  • Depo-Provera
  • Diaphragm
  • Implanon
  • Intra-Uterine Device (IUD)
  • Male condoms
  • Natural family planning
  • Nuva Ring​
  • Emergency Contraception (EC)
  • Norplant (removal only)

Cost and Payment Information

Medicaid and most private insurance is accepted for Family Planning and Pregnancy Testing services. If you are an uninsured or self-pay client, these services will be provided to you on a sliding scale. Your income and family size will determine your fee. See fee schedule


What Should You Bring to the Appointment?

  • Insurance, HMO, and/or Medicaid card
  • Proof of income (pay​check stub or W-2)
  • Personal Identification (driver's license, Social Security card, birth certificate, Medicaid card, state, work, school, or military ID badge)
