Walk-in services are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Wait times may vary.


How it Works

  1. Walk-in to any of our testing locations during the times below. No appointment or ID required.
  2. Fill out the necessary paperwork.
  3. You will have a brief, confidential counseling session. This will help us determine what to test for, help you identify any risk factors and connect you to additional resources.
  4. A phlebotomist will collect specimens. This may include a small blood sample, urine, throat or rectal swabs.
  5. Results are available in five business days via a secure telephone messaging system or online.


Things to Consider:

 1. Has a partner tested positive or are you experiencing symtoms?

In this case, you will need to be seen by a provider at one of our free clinics for testing and potential treatment. An appointment is necessary, please call 704-336-6500 to schedule.

2. How long should I wait to get tested after a potential exposure?

Each STI test has a ‘window period’. This is the time between when a person comes in contact with an STI, and when the STI will show up on a test. If the test is taken too soon, there is a chance that a test result is not accurate. The window period varies from person to person and depends on the type of test

3. Testing does not prevent STD transmission alone

While knowing your status is an important step to help stop transmission, a complete prevention strategy should include proper and consistent condom or barrier use, PrEP, sterile injection equipment and communication. Testing should not be used to make decisions about behaviors that could put you at increased risk for HIV or other STDs.

All information is kept confidential. We will never contact or share your test results with anyone who is not you unless explicit permission is given. If we need to recollect specimens or treatment is needed, a telephone call will be made to the number provided.
