Who We Are
Through the Department of Community Resources, UWFD provides Mecklenburg County customers access to upward mobility and economic stability through integrated services and employment placement.
Who We Serve
Individuals who face multiple barriers to economic stability and upward mobility. Multiple barriers are defined by the program as:
- History of a mental health condition,
- History of substance abuse,
- Over 12+ months of receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits,
- Formerly incarcerated/felony conviction,
- Homelessness,
- Benefits exhausted and no longer able to serve with federal funding, and/or
- Non-custodial parent and either unemployed for a period of twelve (12) months or more OR have a felony conviction.
How We Serve
With rapid employment, individualized support, and retention services, the UWFD social workers and job developer provide customers with wrap-around, customer directed services that addresses external and internal obstacles.
Who Is Involved
The Unified Workforce Development program provides services to customers working with Mecklenburg County Departments.
