Participatory Budgeting

Mecklenburg County Participatory Budget

Participatory Budgeting, or PB Meck, is a process that allows community members to determine how to best address the needs of their communities by turning ideas into actual project proposals, voting on which projects to fund, and Mecklenburg County providing the funding for winning projects.

Volunteers representing each of the six County Commissioner districts have worked with residents to develop ideas and  identify projects. Those projects have been vetted by Mecklenburg County staff and leadership to create ballots. Winning proposals will be funded in the FY2023 budget, with the dollars divided evenly among the County Commissioner districts.

PB Meck puts decision-making power in the hands of Mecklenburg County residents who can decide with their votes which community projects are funded in FY2023.
