SOUPbowl Lunch Results in Big Win

Employees from the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) recently showed their team spirit by serving up some great food for a good cause.

In February, the department participated in the County’s SOUPbowl lunch event in support of the Carolina Panthers' Super Bowl run.

The department hosted a contest for best chili, soup, vegetarian dish, dessert and wings. To participate in the lunch, employees were asked to bring two canned food items or pay $2 to be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

I am proud to announce that LUESA was able to collect 210 pounds of food and raise $460.

Each dollar received is the equivalent of seven pounds of food. Thus, between the financial contributions and the food brought in, nearly 3,430 pounds of food were donated to the food bank, which will help provide more than 2,286 individual meals.

I would like to thank employees for their generous donations.
