Economic Development Director Recruitment

I would like to inform you that we have hired an executive search firm, Waters & Company, to assist us in the recruitment of an Economic Development Director for the County.

The position was posted on the County’s website on Dec. 19. A marketing brochure also has been developed which includes not only the job description, required qualifications, hiring salary range, and benefits, but a profile of the ideal candidate, an overview of the application and selection process, and some general information about Mecklenburg County (both community and government).

It’s our hope to have an accelerated recruitment process with an initial screening of applicants in mid-January. I will keep you posted as this process progresses. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact, Assistant County Manager Leslie Johnson at 980-314-2910 or Leslie.Johnson@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Youth Council Provides Leadership Opportunities for Students

If you have projects that require a child or teen perspective, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Youth Council, funded in part by Mecklenburg County, may have the answers. Students are available to:

  • Provide stakeholder perspectives, ideas and feedback on issues, policies and decisions impacting K-12 students
  • Serve on task forces and committees
  • Highlight issues important to youth and make recommendations for ideas and solutions

Youth Council membership represents a diverse network of student leaders who meet regularly to learn about civic issues, leadership and local government. They also engage and advise community leaders on issues, policies, and decisions affecting children and youth.

Please contact Amy Farrell at 704-343-6999 or amy@generationnation.org if you would like to refer issues to the Youth Council, have opportunities for youth participation, or to discuss how the Youth Council can be a resource for you.

Happy Holidays

The Board Bulletin will resume on Jan. 5, 2015. Have a wonderful holiday season.
