Coordinated Entry

Coordinated Entry - Mecklenburg County is the Lead Agency for Coordinated Entry for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Continuum of Care (CoC).

If you are experiencing homelessness or think you will be homeless soon, Coordinated Entry is your first step to connect to homeless services and homelessness prevention resources in Mecklenburg County. Call 704-284-9665 and leave a message. A staff person will call you back Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Shelter Plus Care

Shelter Plus Care, funded by a HUD grant, provides rental assistance to qualified homeless individuals and families with disabilities in connection with supportive services provided by sources outside of the program.

This program has a community mandate to prioritize individuals and families who are highly vulnerable and chronically homeless, as defined by HUD and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Continuum of Care (CoC). Specifically, verification is required that they have been in the streets or shelters for over 12 months (4 times in the last 3 years, or consecutively) and have a qualifying disability.

Homeless Resource Center

The Homeless Resource Center collaborates with and provides space to ministries and community service organizations that serve meals to the homeless during evening and the weekend hours.

Housing First Charlotte-Mecklenburg Partnership

HFCM is a collaboration between Mecklenburg County, Roof Above (former Urban Ministry Center) and Inlivian (the former Charlotte Housing Authorit)y to help end homelessness in Charlotte. HFCM seeks to provide affordable homes and accompanying support services for 120 homeless individuals.

AA sealArtboard 1 (1).jpgHFCM is guided by the Housing First philosophy, recognizing that people experiencing homelessness need housing first before other life challenges can be addressed. HFCM uses a Scattered-Site Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) model in which program participants rent from community-based landlords. The program serves the most vulnerable people experiencing homelessness in Charlotte (the chronically homeless) and receives referrals from the community's Coordinated Entry registry.
