North Carolina Foreclosure Prevention Fund - A fund that offers help to North Carolina homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments due to job loss or other temporary hardships such as the death of a co-borrower, divorce, or serious illness. The N.C. Foreclosure Prevention Fund is administered by the N.C. Housing Finance Agency, a self-supporting state agency, and is funded through the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Hardest Hit Fund. Qualified homeowners can received up to $36,000 (36 months) of assistance to pay their mortgage and other related expenses. Services to homeowners are provided by one of the Fund's 40 participating U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-approved counseling agencies statewide.
