​Multi Year Election Schedule

Election dates are subject to change in accordance with North Carolina General Statute. Additional election dates may be scheduled if special elections are called.

Dates for 2021 and 2022 are subject to completion of the review of census data.

 

2021 Elections

Filing opens at noon on Friday, July 2, 2021 and closes at noon on Friday, July 16, 2021 for the Towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville,  Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville, and Stallings.


Tuesday, October 5, 2021
Matthews Primary only if needed

Tuesday, November 2, 2021
Municipal Elections to include: Towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville, and Stallings.


2022 Elections

Filing for the City of Charlotte opens at noon on Monday, December 6, 2021 and closes at noon on Friday, December 17, 2021.  Filing for the School Board opens at noon July 25, 2022 and ends at noon on August 12, 2022.


Tuesday, March 8, 2022
Primary for all offices

Tuesday, April 26, 2022, or May 17, 2022 if a federal second primary is held
Second primary and General election for City of Charlotte and School Board

The North Carolina General Assembly is still awaiting census data.  Dates of elections and filings are subject to change.  Please check back.
