​​​​​​​​Brooklyn Village was a vibrant and dynamic neighborhood in the Second Ward Neighborhood of uptown Charlotte. In June 2016, the Board of County Commissioners selected BK Partners as the master developer for redevelopment of the historic neighborhood. The County and BK Partners are committed to embracing and celebrating Brooklyn Village's history throughout the project.

Where we are now?

Mecklenburg County and BK Partners, LLC entered into a Master Redevelopment Agreement and a License Agreement in July 2018. The License Agreement allows BK Partners and its contractors to perform due diligence investigations on County property. This due diligence is in process.

Next Steps:

• Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte must amend the “Brooklyn Village Interlocal Cooperation Agreement” due to a property reversion clause deadline regarding Marshall Park and certain requirements related to affordable housing.
• The County, City, and Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) must amend the “Brooklyn Village Memorandum of Agreement” (MOA) due to specific requirements for affordable housing.
• Upon staff completion of negotiating amendments to the interlocal agreement and MOA, the City Council, CHA Board, and Board of County Commissioners will consider approval of the amended agreements. 
• Within 90 days after execution of these agreements, BK Partners will submit to the County the Master Plan, Phase I Phase Plan, Rezoning Election Notice and Zoning Plan (if applicable).
