Susan Rodriguez-McDowell, District 6

​Susan Rodriguez-McDowell, District 6, is a Democrat serving her first term on the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners and in her first elected office.  Commissioner Rodriguez-McDowell serves on the Health and Human Services; Environment; Intergovernmental; Economic Development; and Performance and Review Committees.  She is the Board liaison for the Domestic Violence Advisory Board and the Child Fatality Prevention and Protection Team. 

Born in New York and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Commissioner Rodriguez-McDowell received her Bachelor of Fine Art Degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University in Morrison, Colorado.  Her professional background includes Operations Manager for the Charlotte branch of a national graphic arts supply dealer; Director of Counseling Services for Colorado Christian University and the principal of two small businesses.

Susan is married to Gavin and the couple has three children; two daughters in college and a son in high school.
